DPF’s comes standard on most diesel engine vehicles, and it’s designed to capture soot and other pollutants before they can be emitted into the atmosphere. However, being that this component is a filter, it needs to be cleaned to remove the soot and contaminant buildup from time to time. For regeneration to occur, the vehicle must travel at speeds of 45 miles per hour (or more) consistently so that the Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) can heat to burn out the contaminants.
